MATHIEU NOZIERES
Biography

Born and raised in France, Mathieu Nozieres is a figurative oil painter whose work explores the history, mythology, and human drama of the American West.
His artistic journey began with a passion for storytelling. Trained in comic book art in Belgium and classical oil painting in Romania, he spent years traveling and studying across Europe, Asia, and beyond, developing a visual language shaped by traditional painting, cinematic composition, and narrative illustration.
His fascination with the American West predates his career in fine art. During his years in France, Nozieres illustrated Western comics, exploring the characters, landscapes, and stories that would later become central to his paintings. What began as an interest in the imagery of the frontier gradually evolved into a deeper artistic pursuit.
Now based in Tucson, Arizona, Nozieres approaches Western painting through a distinctive European perspective. Combining classical techniques with dramatic viewpoints and carefully constructed compositions, his work captures moments suspended in time, inviting viewers to become part of the narrative and imagine what came before and what might follow.
